We’re excited to once again host the ACE Fitness Symposium, November 3–5, here in our hometown of San Diego, Calif. This will be the biggest symposium yet, with expectations to double attendance compared to last year.
Are you interested in a hands-on learning experience working with ACE staff and other fitness industry experts in a fast-paced event setting? Last year’s event was undoubtedly more successful because of the hardworking efforts of our volunteer staff. This year, we’re once again looking for volunteers to assist in the areas of registration, equipment set up/ breakdown, session monitors, logistics, administrative and more.
What Can I Expect?
There are a wide variety of benefits you will receive as part of your commitment to being a volunteer. Here is some important information to give you an idea of what to expect and what you will gain from this experience.
All volunteers will receive:
- Full-registration access to the Symposium to attend sessions and events (when not working) at no cost
- All the same benefits as a Symposium attendee, including CECs for sessions attended and networking activities (when not working) and giveaways
- A volunteer T-shirt to wear during the work shift
All volunteers must commit to:
- Being responsible for their own travel, accommodations and expenses
- Attending the mandatory volunteer meeting on the evening of November 2, 2011
- Working one day for a 12-hour shift (lunch break provided)
Am I Eligible?
We get a huge response every year when this volunteer opportunity arises due to the value it offers to ACE-certified Fitness Professionals. It’s exciting to see so much interest, and making a decision on the final volunteer team is definitely a challenge. We do a thorough review of all applications and we conduct interviews of the final candidates to ensure they are the best fit for our program.
At a minimum, Symposium volunteers must be able to meet the commitments outlined above and they must hold a current certification with ACE. Additional merit is given to individuals who have previously volunteered for ACE; however, new applicants are always welcomed and needed. Applications are processed in the order they are received, so it’s best to get your application submitted as soon as possible.
How Do I Know if I Am Selected?
All applicants will be notified whether or not they have been accepted prior to the advanced discounted registration date (July 16, 2011). At that time, you will have an opportunity to accept or decline the position offered.
