More Research Studies On the Horizon
As we look forward to 2013, ACE will be significantly expanding its research efforts to include even more studies. With that in mind, we’d like to know what you would like to see studied—what products, techniques and trends do you and your clients have questions about? Please email your ideas to research@ACEfitness.org.
For more than 15 years, ACE-certified Fitness Professionals have come to rely on ACE Certified News as a timely, relevant and convenient source for continuing education credits (CECs). Each month, new content covering a wide range of topics relevant to your life and work as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor or health coach is delivered to your inbox—and each issue is an opportunity to earn the CECs you need to renew your certification.
We are always on the lookout for new ways to make it easier for you to access the education you need. This year, we are introducing our new “Best of ACE Certified News” series, which will bring together the most popular and relevant topics from the past year or so. Upcoming issues will highlight several hot topics, including yoga, high-intensity interval training and, for our first issue, the most popular ACE-sponsored research studies of 2011 and 2012.
The Best of ACE-sponsored Research Studies, 2011—2012
For nearly 30 years, ACE has remained dedicated to promoting the benefits of physical activity and protecting consumers against unsafe and ineffective health and fitness products, programs and trends. This commitment is behind everything we do, from setting the highest standards in certification to providing quality education opportunities for fitness professionals. It’s also the reason why, each year, we designate considerable resources toward sponsoring ongoing extensive research and studies in all areas of health and fitness. Since 1995, ACE has enlisted the expertise of top researchers at major universities across the country to conduct studies on fitness products and trends. In some cases, these studies have prompted the Federal Trade Commission to take action against several companies making false claims.
Our most recent studies have covered a wide range of fitness trends and products that are important to both you and your clients. We’ve measured the caloric benefits of popular workouts like Zumba and P90X, examined the merits of several different athletic shoes and tested common exercises to determine which ones are the most effective. These studies, and more, will be featured in our upcoming special issue, The Best of ACE-sponsored Research Studies, 2011—2012, which is worth 0.2 CECs and will be released later this month.
