When you consider that 45 million Americans each year spend $33 billion on weight-loss products, it’s easy to see that people are searching for ways to drop fat and attain better health. The problem comes in the old adage that “calories in,” “calories out” is the way to go. In this course, led by registered dietitian Justin Robinson, you’ll learn why that principle is outdated and how weight management is actually related to three factors: our intake, storage and output. Participants will also explore an updated perspective on what it takes to lose body fat, increase lean body mass and reduce risk of disease.
You will learn:
- How nutrient density and caloric density influences energy intake
- How to regulate hormones that control fat storage
- The most effective energy expenditure exercise methods
- Practical nutrition recommendations to incorporate into your practice
Reviews
Very informative
This was a reasonably good class with good material presented.
There was some good information shared on what can help clients adopt positive habits. A lot of the information was presented as absolutes (ex: Exclude Fast Food) but then were conflicted with additional information provided later (ex: follow an 80/20 lifestyle, 80% clean/20% fast food). I didn’t feel there was any room for a nuanced discussion which is essential, given how economically privileged it is to teach that all food should be “real” and to shop for produce every few days. The discussion about artificial sweeteners was also incorrect, given the updated studies that have been done. Overall, I think this was not a beneficial course and I didn’t learn anything new.
