Helping Clients Through Their Bio-Psycho-Social Relationships to Chronic Pain
Chronic pain can create a negative cascade of physical, psychological and social consequences that impact a client’s quality of life and overall health status, including cardio-metabolic health, strength, balance and mobility. Because they avoid exacerbating their condition, this reduction in movement also affects their confidence and motivation to ease their situation.
In this 2-hour video training, you’ll learn how to properly interrupt or even reverse this negative cascade by strategically introducing safe, corrective exercises as well as educating clients on pain science. With an understanding of the many contributors to the pain experience and the value of graded exposure, you will have a profound impact on those suffering from chronic pain.
Led by Anthony Carey, M.A., CSCS, MES, Founder of Function First and inventor of Core-Tex® who is also internationally recognized as a leading expert on biomechanics, corrective exercise, functional anatomy and motor control, you will feel empowered to help a demographic that is not typically served by traditional fitness programming. Having this specific knowledge can open up new career paths in pain-free movement specialization.
Upon completion, you will be able to:
• Understand the bio-psycho-social approach and how it effects movement
• Recognize multiple inputs that can influence program design for your client in pain
• Leverage the principles of strategic sequencing of corrective exercises to reduce the threat to the nervous system
Reviews
Wonderful class
This was an excellent class. I liked the consideration of the client's emotional connection to pain and how to use a novel approach to handle fear of movement.
