Certified Athletic Trainer, Personal Trainer and Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga teacher in Austin, Texas. I have been teaching yoga for 15+ years. My main goal when working with clients is to utilize all of my training in massage, athletic training, yoga, mobility, and personal training to help clients accomplish their health and fitness goals. I strive to inspire all of my clients to be self-motivated when it comes to training. Sometimes it seems impossible to feel enthusiasm for training but with time and the setting of clear goals and realistic bench marks to measure progress we can get you there. For those who do not know the difference between a personal trainer and an athletic trainer: Athletic Trainers are able to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses such as overuse and acute injuries. This involves evaluating the injury as well as building rehabilitation programs for the client and ensuring the individual can return to their active lifestyle and/or sport. Personal trainers do not obtain the clinical training that athletic trainers do. Personal trainers do not receive training in evaluating, diagnosing and treating injuries. Personal trainers do not attend clinical rotations in various orthopedic settings. Personal trainers are not trained to recognize/treat/refer general medical conditions to medical professionals. Personal trainers are not trained on how to collaborate with medical professionals and patients to ensure rehabilitation and maintenance of conditioning during a period of illness and injury.
