Michelle Zive

Michelle Zive, PhD, MS, RD received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in nutritional sciences, and has been a registered dietitian for over 30 years. In 2017, she received her PhD in leadership from the University of San Diego. For over 30 years, she has worked at UC San Diego’s Center for Community Health as an executive director and administrator of large health promotion programs in communities with the greatest health needs. These community health projects promote access, availability, and affordability of healthy foods, physical activity, and food security while decreasing chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity. The focus is on nutrition education and social marketing to educate community members, as well as changing policies, systems, and environmental changes to support people’s healthy lifestyles and well-being. Zive has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles. In addition, she has contributed to a number of ACE publications including the ACE Health Coach Manual. Zive is passionate about translating the latest research into useful information for the general public and ACE professionals.
